Save Money Doing Laundry with these Five Tips

5 Money Saving Tips

1.    Wash Only Full Loads Sometimes doing a partial load of laundry is necessary, but if you can avoid it make sure you are only doing full loads of laundry. This cuts down on time spent at the laundromat and means fewer loads of laundry you need to do. Of course, make sure clothing and linens are sorted properly, but with the oversized washers and dryers at the laundromat it may be wise to combine like-loads if there aren’t full loads for each.

2.    Wash Only Clothing/Linens that Need It Many items we wear don’t need to be washed after every wear. Other items we use don’t need to be washed every day either. Underwear and socks should be washed after every wear, but jeans or bras can be worn 2 to 3 times before needing a wash. Bed sheets should be washed every week or two and bath and hand towels washed after 3 to 5 uses. Washing items only when they need to be cleaned will cut down on the amount of laundry done and save money.

3.    Use Only the Amount of Detergent Needed More is not better in the case of laundry detergent. One of the biggest mistakes people make with laundry is using too much detergent. Using too much detergent is bad for the items being laundered and it also means you need to buy detergent more often, which costs more money. A good rule of thumb is to use half the recommended amount of detergent per load.

5.    Use a Laundromat that Uses an Ozone Laundry System Ozone is a highly effective oxidizer that delivers multiple cleaning factors to your laundry process using only cold water. Most laundry loads can be processed with less energy and fewer chemicals while producing a clean and sanitized load of laundry. An ozone laundry system boosts laundry productivity by shortening or eliminating rinses during the wash process. In addition, the system effectively shortens dry-time by up to 20 percent - improving laundry production and increasing linen life!
